Windows NT Installation

Upgrading an existing version of Windows NT or Reinstalling over an existing copy

From within the Windows NT GUI, run WINNT32.EXE from X:\i386\system32 directory (where X: denotes the CDROM drive letter). The Windows NT CDROM also autoruns when inserted into the CDROM drive displaying buttons for installing NT, browsing the CD, and adding/removing software.

Clicking on "Windows NT Setup" displays the following screens:

Click "Continue" to proceed with the installation process.

When the copy process has reached 100% the Windows NT installation asks to reboot the computer. After rebooting, Setup displays a DOS based installation screen (see "Installation using the Windows NT Setup disks" for screen shots of the DOS based installation).

Clicking on "Browse This CD" (Figure 1) opens the following window showing the contents of the Windows NT CDROM. The I386 folder contains installation files for Intel based PCs.
