16-bit Windows-Based Programs

16-bit Windows-based programs share a single address space in the System VM. It is possible for one 16-bit program to " step on " another 16-bit Windows-based program's RAM.

This is necessary to allow for compatibility with existing 16-bit programs that expect to be able to interact with each other by sharing memory this way.
